From someone who has loved the original song from the movie by Lulu… the only version that can come close to it is the Trash Can Sinatras. The Glee version is deriviative and no improvement on the original. Check out the Sinatras for a really good alternative version.
@NiaAvila , Yes, there does seem to be an epidemic of ” I am the smartest person around” on the internet, I encounter that a lot on facebook. I was just surprised that you did not know who Sidney Poitier was, no harm intended. Apologies if it seemed anything other than that, I love the movie and the song. Peace
@Morgainell Okay, I can understand where you are coming from with that, but I also understand that everyone on YouTube is obsessed with proving someone wrong or calling them out on their ignorance. I don’t appreciate it.
@NiaAvila , you misunderstood my statement, I know he is a “guy” I simply meant that calling someone of Sidney Poitier’s stature, “the guy” is disrespectful.
Just one of the best songs ever in a movie .. and I am more a rocker than a popper (not a drug reference). Crying time.
I went from Cowboys to Girls. Lady and gents, The Fabulous Intruders.
I Love these movies when a teacher has a beautiful relationship with his students, like “stand and deliver” they make me want to go and hug a teacher :’)
One of the most touching and haunting movies ever made, with this beautful, heart rending song and a magnificent, sensitive performance from the legendary Sidney Poitier, the kind of teacher we all want to remember. Once seen, never forgotten.
@Morgainell Are YOU serious??? Where have YOU been? He is “the guy” for “A Raisin In The Sun”. YOU frickin google him and let me know whether you find a “guy” or a “gal”.
